The mission of the Social Action Committee is to act on the Gospel both within our parish and in the wider community. We strive to educate our parishioners (and ourselves) as faithful citizens and encourage all to advocate for social justice through action in our local, state, and national legislatures.
Our committee provides meals for 50 to 65 men at Emmanuel House, a homeless shelter run by the Diocese of Providence in Providence R.I. We provide meals several times a year.
Over the years we have sponsored collections of basic necessities for our homeless brothers and sisters. Christmas 2021 we began a new tradition of Christmas gift bags for the men at Emmanuel House.
We hope to resume our speaker series with a possible topic involving Afghan refugees resettling in Rhode Island. We have in the past presented speakers who have informed and inspired our parishioners and others on a variety of topics.
Dottie, Coordinator of Emmanual House
We generally meet once a month in the parish center. We are a small committee and welcome parishioners to attend our meetings and join the committee. More information may be obtained by contacting [email protected]
