Within the Mass, the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion assists the Priest in order to provide a timely and reverent distribution of Holy Communion.
Outside of Mass, the Extraordinary Minister’s role is to distribute Holy Communion to the sick and homebound. Whether within or outside of Mass, the Extraordinary Minister’s role is specific — to distribute the Body and Blood of our Lord.
Once the Pastor has identified a suitable candidate, he will nominate him/her to the Bishop for his consideration.

After appointment by the Bishop, the new Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion must then participate in this Parish’s formation session.
