Roman Missal

Our Parish along with all English speaking countries will begin using the New Mass Translation of the Roman Missal beginning with the 1st Sunday of Advent on November 27th.  The Third Edition of the Roman Missal which was promologated by Pope John Paul II in 2000 called for a more literal translation of the Mass of the Latin Rite to the English Language.  Prior to this new translation the prayers and responses were more Dynamic Equivalent of the Latin rite in English.  With this new translation the prayers said by the priest and the people's responses are now a Formal Equivalent of the actual Latin texts.  It is important to note that the structure of the Mass is not changing.

The United States Conference of Bishops has prepared this four page handout comparing the people's responses at Mass (the Dynamic Equivalent) to the Formal equivalent of the Latin texts.  Please click on this link to view and print these changes in preparation for the use of these new texts on the 1st Sunday of Advent.
