Consolation Ministry - Funeral Preparation

The purpose of this ministry is to provide hope and comfort to the families who have suffered the loss of one whom they love.  In every celebration for the dead, the Church attaches great importance to the reading of the Word of God and the music, which helps create a spirit of hope in the Christian's share in Christ's victory over death.  Whenever possible, the family of the deceased is involved in the planning of the funeral liturgy:

  • in the choice of the readings provided in the ritual
  • in the selection of music for the rites
  • in the designation of family members or friends as liturgical ministers (lectors, etc.)

Designated persons are points of contact for the funeral director as well as the family of the deceased to assist the family in planning the funeral of their loved one.

Also, on All Souls Day, November 2, the parish community celebrates a special Mass for all the parishioners or immediate family members who have died during the past year.
